(Review by Sean Conover)
In this rather uninteresting thriller, Robert DeNiro offers a couple (Robecca Romjin-Stamos and Greg Kinnear) that just lost their 8-year old son in a freak accident the opportunity to “clone” him. Of course, things don’t go as planned, and while the clone looks like their previous child, he doesn’t necessarily act and behave the same and begins to exhibit some rather frightening characteristics. While the initial scruple of “would you do this” is interesting and thought provoking, the story soon starts to dive into a rather predictable twisted tale of “science gone bad.” DeNiro is woefully underutilized in his role, and Kinnear and Stamos aren’t really that interesting to watch or keep you interested in their rocky relationship. You can’t strike gold all the time, but that’s what they get for mining in this Ho-Hum stream of a script. | |
