(Review by Baley Conover)
Its 1961 in the middle of the Cold War, and the world only wonders how long it will take before The United States and The Soviet Union are in a nuclear war. But this movie isn't about war. It is about the courage of the Soviet men in the K-19 submarine, and the loyalty they have to one another and their country.
Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson are Naval Captians in the Soviet Union. Alexei Vostrikov (Ford) takes over Mikhail Polenin's (Neeson) postition as captain over Russia's new, most high-tech submarine in the world, K-19. Without having the submarine fully prepared, Vostrikov sets sail to test the strength of the boat and its crew, also test launching a nuclear missle. Just when everything seems to be fine, the unthinkable happens, and the crew must have the courage to work together to save themselves, their motherland, and the world.
An overall good movie that will keep you at the edge, and showing you we are all human. Even in times of anguish we can work together, even with those we hate, to save one another.
